Michael Bay – New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Origin

Last week the news broke that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will will now have a different origin story. The turtles will have roots as actual aliens. Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon and Platinum Dunes will team up to produces the turtles for a release date on December 25th, 2013. Directing will be Jonathan Liebesman better known for Battle Los Angeles and Wrath of the Titans.

Everyone knows that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are the result of coming into contact with mutant radioactive ooze hence having mutant in their name. Michael Bay however let it slip that Platinum Dunes, Michael Bay production company, the new TMNT film will have a totally new origin plus live-action/cgi hybrid footage. This is what was said:

“When you see this movie, kids are going to believe one day these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie,” said Bay as he took the stage to discuss his new vision for the reptilian reboot. “These turtles are from an alien race, and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely loveable.”

Since this has been met with much controversy, even Michael Bay has gotten involved and commented on fan outrage with altering classics such as the TMNT origin:

“Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.


Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will hit movie theaters next year on December 25, 2013.
